(late) January wrap-up! lolz

Hey! Hi! So by now I completly ruined my goal of posting once a week bUT well what can i do? during this little break i got an instagram account (if you would like to follow me here it is thank u <3) BUT what we are here for it's my January wrap-up; I started this year reading 10 books, 7 of them counted towards my "ATYin52" challenge and six for the Pop Sugar Reading Challenge. So here we go!

My first read was "Murder in the Orient Express" by Agatha Christie. Here we are following Poirot who is a detective (if i'm remembering correctly) and meanwhile he's on the Orient Express (dah) someone gets murdered so he starts to investigate who could have done it.

Wow, this was my first time reading something by Agatha Christie and I got to say I'm in love, I want to read every book by her now. Christie has a way with words where she immediatly grabs your attention and you want to know what really happened. It was a 5 out 5 stars read, simply loved it! Couldn't have started the year with a better book.

To follow this book I got an easy read which was "Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls" by Elena Favilli and Francesca Cavallo, which is essensially a collection on short biographies of strong/inspiring women. And well I DID like but it only  got 3 stars for me, it was, as I said, an easy, fast and inspiring read, I think the words/language they used was well done and explained, I did read some chapters with my little sister and she really loved it but with all this said I think there were some stories or details that sometimes didn't sit well with me and I think they left out some good role models.

Next I read "Dear Ijeawele, or a Feminist Manifesto in Fifteen Suggestions" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, this was a pleasant read (4 out of 5 stars) I liked this more than "We Should All be Feminist" but I think is not yet where "Bad Feminist" is (which i would strongly recommend). But here Adichie explains Feminism in such a simple way, honestly if you want a little lesson on what this movement is about but you don't want to read big books or articles I would recommend to read this; but by the way I sometimes felt a bit of too much agression but maybe that was only me since I haven't read another review with that same feeling.

After that I read "It's Kind of a Funny Story" by Ned Vizzini but I got a whole review on this one so if you want to know more of my thoughts chek it out here! I gave this 3 stars and it really was a let down.

At the same time, I was reading "Every Day" by David Levithan, which let me tell you right now I don't want to know nothing more about this book series until the movie, thanks.

Now, this is the story of "A" which is something? (sorry i don't know how to described it) that wakes in a different body every day, so one of this days he meets Rhiannon with whom it falls in love, and yeah, that's it; I was really hoping to like this since it's David Levithan but well it was a let down, I didn't like the love-interest or the characters, their actions seemed so immature to me, idk?? and the story was just so repetitive and boring, maybe I would continue this series just because I want to understand how this works?? But I have hopes for the movie to explain this please omg, btw I gave this 2 stars lol.

Next up we got "Turtles All the Way Down" by non-other than John Green and as with "It's Kind of a Funny Story" I got an entire review here! It was a 3.5 read and I thought the anxiety representation was great!

Also in january I read "We Have Always Lived in the Castle" by Shirley Jackson and now that I think about a don't really remember much wow, Goodreads says I gave it 3 stars but I think I might change that to 2 because I really don't remember much. My mini-review in GR says that I didn't have a lot of expectations and that's true but I did think the book would be a lot creeper, the thing that "saved" this book for me was the beautiful writting by Shirley, I LOVED IT, I think that's why it has 3 stars lol.

To loosen up a bit of the weird side of "We Have Always Lived in the Castle" I read "The Deal" by Elle Kennedy which I gave 3 out of 5 stars, this is the typical hate-to-love relationship with a bit of "false relationship to a real one" trope, but I kinda enjoyed it, granted is not the best NA but well I liked the relationship, one thing I noticed tho is that the book is told from a really sexist point of view, like when they're talking and the guy says "women aren't supposed to think...that's why your brains are smaller. Science proves it" like broooo hold the fuck up, what? even if it was a joke nahhh, bye.

Since I loooooove Star Wars I finally decided to read "The Princess Diarist" by Carrie Fisher <3 All I can say is I loved it yeah, 5 out of 5, is honestly a must read if you love this world.

And to finish this month's reads, and wrap-up because that was a long one wow, I read "Roar" by Cora Carmack.

This is the story of princess Aurora who is soon-to-be queen and everybody in her kingdom thinks she's the strongest queen yet but the thing is... she doesn't have magic; she's also marrying this horrible guy from the next kingdom and omG I HATE HIM. Well, Aurora decides to run away so she can become stronger with this new group of storm hunters (i think i didn't mention this but the magic is through the power of storms lol, let's continue). So this story started reaaaaally slow for me wow, I even thought about not reading it but I struggled through it and now here I am giving it 4 stars. I liked the character development in this book, how Aurora grows thoughout the book is cool, also every one else in this book must be protected omg; the ending was kind of predictable but there were little things I wasn't expecting so yeah, the only thing keeping me from giving it 5 stars was the romance, sometimes it was too much for me, lol.

Aaaand that's it guys, I read some pretty good book this month so I'm happy with it and keep an eye for February wrap-up!
